Pohjola triumphs in second UAE PGA Order of Merit event

The second UAE PGA Order of Merit event, sponsored by Al Naboodah and IHP (In House Publishing), took place last week at Emirates Golf Club and was won by Jebel Ali Golf Resort and Spa’s Julius Pohjola who returned a brilliant 1 under par 71, three shots ahead of Dubai Creek’s Stephen Hubner in second.

The 2006-07 Order of Merit champion Simon Payne (Dubai Country Club) remains in pole position to retain his crown after two events, following his victory at the Montgomerie in the first event of the season with a share of third place on 75 with Nick Oakley and Dave Adams (both Emirates GC).

Payne tops the standings with 165 Order of Merit points, five clear of Pohjola, who has closed the gap with his victory.

Second and third place finishes for Adams in the first two events have propelled him into third place on 137.5 points
