9th Nov 09 at 12:21pm
The third event in the battle for the 2009/ 2010 UAE PGA's Order of Merit title, held at Jebel Ali Golf Resort Tuesday November 3rd, saw a third professional step up to the winners' podium, and albeit early days in the season, show his intent at claiming the accolade.
Scoring a 2-under par 70, Al Hamra Golf Club's Ross McArthur maintained a tight grasp on the days' trophy ahead of Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club's Steve Chambers' 1-under par 71. Nick Oakley, Yas Links’ latest managerial appointment in Director of Golf, led the Abu Dhabi based contingent with a polished 73 securing a 3rd place finish.
After thanking his PGA colleagues for competing, winner Ross McArthur commented that "the course was in exceptional playing condition today and on behalf of my fellow PGA members I'd like to thank Director of Golf James Williams and his team." McArthur added that he was pleased with his consistent performance and was delighted to better his shared 3rd place finish in the Order of Merit's season opener.
Julian Danby, Chief Executive of the UAE PGA said “it was great to see yet another new winner for this season picking up the first place cheque today, this really shows the strength of players we have within the UAE and it has already created quite a buzz to this years' Order of Merit Series.” Danby added that “The UAE PGA extends its warm thanks to our Patrons, Al Naboodah Group, Acuma Wealth Management, Auriga and TNT, all of whom are great corporate ambassadors for the game, and derive a great deal of satisfaction in developing golf in the UAE.”
